Three men, three different pasts, one unforgiving war. Olewicz—a former soldier of the Home Army, Kolski—a lieutenant returning from Russia with the First Polish Army, and their superior, Major Świętowiec, formerly of the People’s Army, meet amid the whirlwind of the offensive on Dresden. History, politics, and old grievances weave a fog of mistrust around them, with every step treading the fine line between life and death. On the battlefield, divisions blur, yet the ghosts of the past refuse to let go of previous choices and loyalties. In the heat of battle, amid the roar of cannons and dust of ruins, a man confronts his own courage, fear, and inevitable fate. With subtle references to the Polish Film School, the film asks probing questions about the price of friendship, loyalty, and political compromises during war, where the boundaries between heroism and tragedy remain elusive.
