Mrs. Jadwiga, a new archivist curious about life and human stories, arrives in the small town of Gody. Soon, she stumbles upon a real scandal: engineer Wiktus returns after years of working abroad to his wife, and with him… Paola, his Italian second wife. In a town where nothing stays hidden, everyone has something to say. The head of the Women's League gossips, the parish priest comments in his own way, and the city council secretary records everything that might serve as an example. Meanwhile, Wiktus can’t decide which of the two women to choose, and the townspeople can’t wrap their heads around the idea of having a civil marriage with one wife and a church wedding with the other. Paola stirs desire and brings a breath of exoticism into the lives of the characters, while morality defenders plan a demonstration. Amid all the chaos, the archivist stands out—a solitary, independent, and observant woman who views the small-town intrigues with detachment. It is to her that Paola entrusts a farewell letter for Wiktus, making her the discreet witness to the humor, passion, and absurdity of the local community.
