In the winter of 1945, Slovak doctor Juraj asked the TOPR rescuers for help evacuating the wounded from a field hospital in the German-controlled Zuberska Valley. Nine rescuers, accompanied by a dog, reached the site where supplies and food had run out, and four seriously ill patients were being cared for only by a young nurse. The return trip with the wounded, made difficult by avalanches and the proximity of German patrols, ended successfully without any losses. Based on this operation, Andrzej Munk made a medium-length pseudo-documentary inspired by Adam Liberak’s story, depicting events led by TOPR chief Zbigniew Korosadowicz.
