Director: Marek Koterski
2002
The film "Day of the Wacko" by Marek Koterski is a psychological tragicomedy that depicts the life of Adam Miauczyński – a middle-aged man, a frustrated Polish language teacher, struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder. His daily life is dominated by persistent counting, repeating rituals, and a constant pursuit of perfect order, which is always disrupted by the chaos of the world around him. Adam faces numerous life challenges that seem endless: he has a low salary, his students are lazy, and the people around him are noisy and indifferent. His frustrations are deepened by the political situation, which adds further anxiety to his life. In the film, Koterski presents a portrait of a modern, disillusioned intellectual who clashes with a reality full of absurdities that continually provoke his frustration and irritation. Miauczyński is a typical representative of a generation that has not fulfilled its aspirations and is lost in a conformist, often ruthless world.
