The Decalogue: Five
Director: Krzysztof Kieślowski
1988
"Decalogue 5" tells the story of a juvenile offender sentenced to death for the murder of a taxi driver. While awaiting execution, the boy, taking on the role of narrator, reveals to his lawyer details of his past and personality that shed light on the mysterious motives behind his crime. Although the protagonist initially appears unequivocally evil, his story becomes increasingly complex, and the viewer begins to see how difficult, complicated, and full of suffering the circumstances leading to the tragedy truly were.
