Young Roman (M. Kondrat) starts at a luxury restaurant at the lowest rung of the staff—as a dishwasher. However, he quickly learns the rules governing the adult world: intrigue, violence, and ruthless rivalry. A promotion to busboy brings no relief—each day he witnesses injustice toward his coworkers and the cruelty of his superiors, especially the demonic waiter Fornalski (R. Wilhelmi). Amid the chaos and exploitation, Roman finds a sense of closeness with Hela (S. Celińska), but even her presence does not protect him from repression—his superiors immediately eliminate her. As tensions rise, the daily work becomes a stage for dramas, and the young protagonist is forced to confront moral dilemmas and human baseness. An adaptation of the autobiographical book by Henryk Worcella (Tadeusz Kurtyka), the story reveals the world of luxury dining in 1930s Krakow, where prestige and opulence mask ruthless mechanisms of power and violence.
