The film combines music and conversation, showcasing the most important Polish jazz bands of that era. Five groups perform in the television studio: the Zbigniew Namysłowski Quartet, the Andrzej Trzaskowski Quintet, the Krzysztof Komeda Quintet, the Bossa Nova Combo, and the Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski Quartet. In brief interviews, the artists talk about their work, and the final performance—a joint All Star Session—brings all the bands together into one energetic jazz improvisation. The entire event is hosted by master of ceremonies Joachim-Ernst Berendt.
