"Lonely Woman" is the story of Irena, a mature postwoman from Wroc艂aw who struggles with the hardships of everyday life. Work, raising an illegitimate child alone, and battling the vicissitudes of fate leave Irena feeling isolated, though she does not lack strength or determination. Yet, her greatest challenge remains the loneliness that continually overwhelms her. Into her life comes a disabled pensioner who gradually becomes her companion. A feeling slowly develops between them, even though at first both harbor fears and prejudices. Their relationship, marked by restraint and shyness, becomes a quiet discovery of another human being who, despite many life wounds, is able to offer support.
