Three Colors: Red
Director: Krzysztof Kieślowski
1994
The story of Valentine (I. Jacob), a model from Geneva who accidentally hits the dog of an old, bitter judge. The judge, who has controlled the lives of his neighbors for years, becomes for Valentine someone who hides deep loneliness and secrets. Initially outraged, the girl begins to understand the judge’s motivation, who in his youth was unhappily in love.
Soon her fate intertwines with that of a law student, and all the characters decide to travel to England, each for different reasons. The film explores inner freedom, responsibility, and the consequences of choices, raising questions about life, love, and loneliness.
The third part of the "Three Colors" trilogy by Krzysztof Kieślowski, created in a screenwriting collaboration with Krzysztof Piesiewicz and musically with Zbigniew Preisner.
