A young, poor painter sells his paintings near the Barbican when he meets a beautiful girl who dreams of an artistic career. However, her parents, market traders, have other plans – they are looking for a wealthy suitor for her. Fate, however, has it that the perfect match turns out to be the young painter himself, who soon becomes a part of her life. The film tells a story where love bridges two worlds – artistic dreams and social expectations – leading to unexpected happiness.
