Ewa Bracka (Dorota Stalińska), an ambitious journalist without a degree, puts her career above all else. She leaves her little daughter in the care of her mother, practices judo, and does not hesitate to use men to advance her professional goals. During a night shift, she takes a shocking photo of Marianna (Małgorzata Zajączkowska), a young worker from a dormitory hotel who is unexpectedly pregnant and a victim of abuse. Ewa befriends Marianna and reveals to her a painful part of her own history: a failed love affair with an Italian journalist, an unplanned pregnancy, a suicide attempt, and her return to the country. At the same time, she embarks on an affair with the married Piotr (Władysław Kowalski), hoping for a joint trip to Rome. To increase her chances of a scholarship, she publishes an article about the lives of women in the dormitory hotel, featuring Marianna's photo—hoping the newspaper won’t reach her and that Piotr will go abroad with her. However, the situation spirals out of control, forcing Ewa to face the consequences of her own decisions.
