Return of the She-Wolf

Kraków at the turn of the 19th century. Kamil, a poet and painter, is preparing to marry the young and naive Krystyna, who is unaware of his true nature. They both arrive at the palace of Countess Julia—a woman who, according to legend, haunted the area as a she-wolf before dying from a “holy bullet.” They are invited by Stefania Ziembalska, Kamil’s cousin. Also living in the palace are the Ziembalska daughters, Ania and Iza, the governess Ewelina, the old housekeeper Agata, and the maid Pelasia. The couple spends their first night in Countess Julia’s old room, specially prepared by Stefania. When Krystyna is alone there, she sees the terrifying figure of a werewolf and is shocked. The summoned doctor explains her condition as fear of the wedding night. Soon after, however, Krystyna dies—drowned during a bath by a mysterious creature—and everyone believes the crime to be the work of the “cursed Julia.” The next horror victim is the governess Ewelina, and in the evening, Ania visits Kamil. To his horror, the girl begins to transform into a werewolf. Kamil shoots her, only to discover Ania’s lifeless body on the bed with a gunshot wound. A fire, caused by a knocked-over lamp, devours the building...
