A young, twenty-year-old man, after convalescing in the mountains, arrives in Warsaw hoping for a literary career. In the capital, he finds himself in a neglected, cluttered room shared with a group of artists—poets and students. Among them reigns an atmosphere of youthful rebellion and creative passion, but also emptiness and confusion. They all try to suppress the sense of impending disaster with alcohol, humor, and sometimes even extravagant arrogance, avoiding confrontation with reality. Warsaw, pulsating with life, becomes for them both a place of hope and a trap where each character struggles with their own dreams and uncertainty about the future.
