The film tells the story of old Habryk (Antoni Halotta), a retired miner and Silesian insurgent, who lives with his family in one of the last freestanding houses on the edge of a large construction site for a new housing estate. Although they have been allocated an apartment in a block, Habryk refuses to move and will not accept having their house demolished. Conflict erupts when his daughter-in-law (Ewa Wi艣niewska) secretly decides to move their belongings to the new apartment, unaware of the father's anger, who does not want to part with a place that has become part of his identity. The main roles are played by real representatives of the Silesian working class: Antoni Halotta as old Habryk and Maria Straszna as his wife. Based on the novella "This House No Longer Exists" by Albin Sikorski, the film is not only a portrayal of the lives of Silesians during a difficult period of transformation but also a commentary on a changing world where tradition is replaced by modernity, leading to the breakdown of family bonds and values.
