After twenty years living abroad, Tadeusz returns to Poland to visit his family. Surprised by a letter from his son, Maciek, revealing a dramatic truth about his mother and the family's wartime past, Tadeusz begins searching for answers to questions that have haunted him for years. His younger son, Jędrek, died during the occupation, but the circumstances of his death remain unclear. Tadeusz tries to unravel the mystery—did Jędrek die at the hands of the Germans, or was his death caused by resistance fighters who saw him as a threat? As he journeys through memories and conversations with those who knew his family, Tadeusz repeatedly encounters a wall of silence. He attempts to piece together past events that grow increasingly complex and elusive. Yet, in the end, he realizes that it’s not about solving the mystery of the past, but about feeling needed and close to another person once again.
