Director: Andrzej Wajda
1975
The television version of "The Promised Land" premiered on May 21, 1978, three years after the cinematic success of the film with the same director and cast. Andrzej Wajda decided to create a television adaptation to fully utilize the filmed material, allowing for a four-hour viewing experience. The film is a faithful adaptation of Władysław Reymont's novel, vividly and dramatically depicting the social transformations associated with the rapid development of Łódź in the 19th century. The series consists of 4 episodes, each lasting 50 minutes.
