An adaptation of Zbigniew Nienacki’s book "The Island of Villains," directed by the author himself, filmed in the picturesque settings of Kazimierz on the Vistula River. In a small town on the banks of the Vistula, legends circulate about treasures lost during the last war. A young museum employee, Tomasz, alerted by Professor Opałka about mysterious collections, decides to take matters into his own hands when the police treat the case rather humorously. While exploring bunkers, he notices he is being followed by a girl—the professor’s assistant, known to students as “Zaliczka.” Tomasz befriends three scouts who help him with the search. Soon they uncover a gang planning to steal the treasures. Based on a sculpture of a head reconstructed by the professor, the local police chief recognizes Gabrysiak, the trusted man of the estate owner who disappeared after the war. His murderer—the PTTK guide Kolasa—is unmasked. Tomasz, the scouts, and “Zaliczka” thwart the theft, and the collections end up in the museum.
