The main character is forty-four-year-old Andrzej, who embarks on a journey into the past, trying to unravel the mystery of his friend Maks's death. This oneiric journey, full of symbolic and surreal elements, leads Andrzej to confront his own experiences, regrets, and fears. He is accompanied by a mysterious group of performers dressed as chochoły (straw effigies), as well as an actor named Włodek, who holds special significance for him. Along the way, Andrzej encounters the ghosts of former loved ones, allowing him to uncover previously unexplained aspects of his past.
