Jureczek (Jan Englert) is a clever Warsaw hustler who accidentally stumbles upon a huge stash of gold coins – Krugerrands. He immediately devises a plan to outsmart both the police and his surroundings: he adopts a false identity and poses as an opposition activist, which makes him “untouchable” by the authorities. As the country begins to experience change and market liberalization, Jureczek quickly spots an opportunity: he establishes his own bank, attracting clients with promises of high returns. This not only earns him a fortune but also a position in the new reality, where everyone wants to control money and influence. Although former secret police officers try to exploit his success for their own political games, Jureczek remains independent, balancing greed, cunning, and anonymity in a world full of new opportunities and old rules.
