Magdalena, a mature actress, returns after many years to her hometown for her grandfather's funeral. Although she comes back to the place that was once her home, she finds no sense of belonging or understanding there. Encounters with distant relatives and old acquaintances are indifferent and distant, as if the time that has passed has created an insurmountable chasm between her and these people. In her life, which has unfolded far from this small town, there is no room for sentimentality or old ties. During her visit, she meets a young man on the train, and they quickly enter into a romance. Their relationship is full of intense emotions, but it’s clear that it is also a kind of escape – from the past, from the emptiness she feels regarding family bonds. The younger man becomes a symbol of a new beginning for her, but at the same time, an expression of the end of something old.
