Janusz Rabkiewicz, an experienced film censor known for his "trimming," unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of an absurd crisis. On screen, instead of meekly playing their roles, the film’s characters begin to rebel—and it’s directed right against him. The escalating chaos is compounded by an inept intern and his ex-wife, who shows up at the worst possible moment, accompanied by her new partner. Overwhelmed by events, the censor turns to therapy but finds no relief there either—his surroundings suddenly start expressing emotions... through song. Eventually, he returns to the cinema to confront the rebellious actors face to face. An honest conversation, especially with one of the film’s heroines, opens his eyes: their protest and unexpected singing are a desperate attempt to reclaim dignity and their right to voice in a world that has been denying them both for years. When the order comes to destroy the film copy, Rabkiewicz for the first time takes a stand for freedom—and against the role he has played until now.
