A film about how war, though ended, continues to persist in the minds of those who lived through it. The main characters—Juliusz, an engineer who survived a concentration camp, and his wife, Róża—struggle to find normalcy after the war, yet their lives remain constantly marked by brutal memories. Juliusz, once full of life, now battles psychological trauma that returns in the form of nightmares, panic attacks, and painful recollections of the camp. Róża, meanwhile, faces a dilemma: loyalty to her husband, whose mental state prevents genuine connection, and love for the man she became involved with, believing Juliusz did not survive the war. Based on a short story by Jerzy Zawieyski, the film tells the story of people who physically survived the war but became its victims psychologically forever. It is a film about the unending struggle with the past, about loneliness in relationships that can never return to what they once were, and about the inevitable impact of trauma on human life.
