Tomek (Artur Żmijewski), the son of a dentist, notices a troubled Julia (Krystyna Janda) at the clinic. She recently had an abortion and has nowhere to go. The young man asks his mother (Maja Komorowska) to let the woman stay with them. Julia is unemployed, has no family, and struggles with drug addiction, claiming she worked in censorship. Despite her lies and moral difficulties, Tomek starts a romance with her and helps her through her baptism. His mother advises him to take responsibility for both of them, but as a student, he cannot support them, so he leaves for Berlin to be with his father. Meanwhile, Julia’s condition worsens, and after her psychiatric hospitalization, Tomek returns, realizing that love alone is not enough to overcome illness. Together with his mother, he contemplates the moral consequences of their decisions toward others.
