"Faithful River" is a drama set during the January Uprising. The main character, Prince Józef Odrowąż, a wounded insurgent, hides out at the estate of Salomea Brynicka, the daughter of the estate manager. A love blossoms between them, though their relationship is threatened by the harsh realities of war and the searches conducted by Tsarist soldiers. Soon, a commissioner from the National Government arrives at the manor, revealing deep divisions among the insurgents. Wiesnicyn, a Russian officer, finds Odrowąż but spares his life. On a tumultuous night, Salomea and Józef become lovers. In the spring, when Odrowąż is taken by his mother to join the forming insurgent units, a distraught Salomea throws the gold ducats given to her by the princess into the river. The film ends on a dramatic note as Salomea faints and Szczepan carries her in his arms. The film blends romance with the tragedy of war, portraying love and sacrifice amid historical upheaval. It is based on the novel by Stefan Żeromski.
