Young scientist Ludwik (J. Machulski) is looking for a quiet place to work and rents a room in a villa inhabited by women of three generations. The elderly lady Maria (B. Ludwiżanka), the owner, is passionate about genealogy and breeding fur animals. Her niece Małgosia (M. Zawadzka), a high school student, dreams of a romance with an adult man and plots intrigues against her aunt. Tenant Kazimiera (K. Łaniewska), an energetic sportswoman and social activist, wants to transform the villa into a gymnasium. Ludwik becomes the object of desire and ambition for all the women, who embody different ideologies: the Second Polish Republic, socialism, and youth culture. Each of them has a personal request of him, and the scientist’s peace is completely disturbed.
