Felicja, a mature actress, reflects during a flight to Paris on a tragic love from years past, which took place during the occupation. She was hopelessly in love with a fellow actor, Wiktor Rawicz, whom she hid when he was accused of killing a Volksdeutscher. She dreamed that living together would win his heart. She is willing to do anything to keep him by her side, even if it means great sacrifice. Throughout the war, Felicja faces many trials but never loses hope that Rawicz will stay with her forever. Unfortunately, her boundless love becomes a burden for him. Wiktor, a weak and doubtful man, ultimately abandons her, leaving her with a sense of betrayal. After the war, Felicja finds a new purpose in life, gaining popularity through her role in a radio family saga. Though disillusioned, she discovers inner strength and faith in life despite numerous setbacks.
