The story is set in a small town in 1960s Poland and depicts the coming of age of a group of high school students against the backdrop of the political tensions of that era. The main characters, Tomasz and Marcyś, have been friends since childhood, but the events of March 1968 and the local backlash against Marcyś’s Jewish heritage gradually erode their trust. The tipping point is a school party that the press portrays as a “celebration of Israel.” In response, Tomek organizes a farewell private gathering, trying to preserve their friendship and a sense of normalcy in a world that suddenly becomes hostile and divided. The film shows these dramatic changes through the lens of everyday, innocent moments of youth — parties, schoolyard quarrels, and first loves — and its bittersweet tone gives the story a nostalgic, autobiographical dimension.
