During a harsh winter in the late 1970s, thousands of travelers were stranded on the tracks. At the Koluszki station on New Year's Eve 1978, people dressed in elegant attire wait for a delayed train, frustrated and bored, while Edward Gierek appears on the television screen. Meanwhile, on the very train stuck in the snow, passengers try to make the time more bearable—they share food and alcohol, talk, joke, and improvise New Year's Eve celebrations. Strangers form an unexpected community. Awkward situations, minor quarrels, and chance encounters give this winter night both a comedic and warm character.
