"Przypadek" ("The Chance") is a film that immerses us in a fascinating world of alternate realities and explores the themes of fate, free will, and the impact of chance on our lives. The main character, Witek, a medical student, experiences three different versions of his destiny. Each version results from a small, random event that completely alters the course of his life. Although Witek initially remains unaware of it, he becomes entangled in an extraordinary game of fate. Is it mere coincidence that he faces a different future three times? Or is it all connected to his past—particularly his twin brother who died at birth? Kieślowski uses this story to draw attention to yet another issue, provocatively giving Witek a symbolic birth date and place for Poland—June 28, 1956, in Poznań.
