A film consisting of two novellas: The Annunciation and The House The Annunciation A large industrial project is swallowing up increasingly vast areas, destroying old villages and traces of the past. During the exhumation of an old village cemetery, the residents helplessly watch the work of a massive bulldozer. One of them, unable to come to terms with the destruction of his ancestral land, in a moment of desperation sets the machine on fire. When he realizes the tragic consequences of his action, he decides to put his affairs in order one last time and say goodbye to his son. The House A small provincial town faces changes brought about by a large industrial investment. Former residents return, and newcomers arrive. Krystyna, a young clerk at the medical clinic, feels lost between her ambitions and everyday life. She lives with her husband—a worker employed in the construction of an excavator—in her parents' house, which causes constant conflicts. Her father, an intellectual with rigid views, looks on with disappointment at his daughter’s marriage, which he considers a misalliance.
