The Sinful Life of Francis Buła

The film’s action takes place in a Silesian housing estate in the late 1930s. Francik Buła, a young worker, recounts his life—from a childhood marked by poverty and the hardships of working in the mines, through conflicts with the police and imprisonment, to adulthood spent among the unemployed, engaged in smuggling and coal mining. Together with a group of friends who call themselves "elwrams," Francik resists the impending war and occupation by preparing a symbolic act of protest against German propaganda.
