"White" is the pseudonym of Paweł Świętorzecki, a young PPS fighter active after the suppression of the 1905 revolution in the Kingdom of Poland. He carries out secret political executions and experiences a romance with Ewa, the wife of a conspiratorial lawyer. After killing an officer of the Tsarist police, he is arrested but unexpectedly released. He is assigned to surveil the writer "Korab," suspected of collaborating with the Okhrana. During the trial in Krakow, he begins to doubt Korab's guilt and the meaning of obedience to the organization. Eventually, he refuses to carry out the sentence, becoming himself a target of his own conspiratorial group. The film blends fiction with historical facts—the character of "Korab" is modeled on Stanisław Brzozowski. The screenplay is based on a novel by Władysław Terlecki and fits into a series of dramas about political terror produced in Poland in the 1970s and 1980s.
