"Mother Joan of the Angels" is a dark film that blends elements of horror and psychological drama. The story takes place in a secluded monastery, where an exorcist is summoned to free Mother Joan, the convent's abbess, who is allegedly possessed by a demon. However, what was meant to be a spiritual battle against the forces of darkness gradually transforms into something more earthly. Rather than a classic clash with demons, the film depicts how possession and exorcisms become a backdrop for internal, human struggles. Mother Joan and her charges, despite being subjected to mystical and demonic influences, begin to uncover their own desires and forbidden emotions. In place of possession creeps forbidden love, which holds as strong, if not stronger, an influence on their lives than the supernatural forces.
