"300 Miles to Heaven" is a film that tells the dramatic story of the escape of two young brothers, Adam and Krzysztof Zieliński, who in 1985 decided to break free from the Polish People's Republic and reached Sweden by hiding under the chassis of a truck. Despite enormous hardships and risks, their decision to flee changed their lives forever. However, the film does not focus solely on the escape itself but also on the emotional and psychological struggles of the boys in a foreign country. After arriving in Sweden, the brothers are placed in the care of a foster family. Although the Polish authorities try to have them sent back, their parents do not seek their extradition, leaving the decision about the boys' future in their own hands. As a result, the parents lose their parental rights, and despite their young age, the boys must cope on their own in a foreign land, where they slowly learn a new life, freedom, and responsibility. The film portrays the great courage and determination of these young heroes, their dreams of a better life, and their struggles with a new reality. At the same time, it shows how difficult and painful the road to freedom can be when you have to leave behind your family, home, and everything you know.
